I tolerate my fans, watchers or people who favs, collects artworks for inspirations, make an adaptation, draw something similar or close resemble to my style or work; but taking my work or even other good artists' work directly and slapping it into your DevART gallery OR even from Tumblr, Reddit, CGHub or whatever art gallery site, blog and shit, without permission, violating my copyright and signature stamp, and not even acknowledging the origin, source or rightful owner of the work is down right disgusting.

You make me lose my respect to you as either a fan, an aspiring artist or an online friend. I trust all my watchers and fans and new visitors, and I don't expect any of you to be perfect, but there are boundaries and stealing other people's hard work and effort is one of them.

Thank you to a noted few who report to me about the art theft. You are awesome, and I love you.

Now just to make things clear, I'm not over the top angry, just upset. I'm just giving a fair warning here and not throwing out names to induce a witch hunt. We have enough hate mails, and trolls and other problems online, so please don't tell someone to go and kill themselves and stuff, that's not very nice. The reason I don't put names here because I don't want stuff like that to happen.

Ranting over.

Onward with the fun stuff.

Damn and your art is so cool and inspirin, and then stupid people have to go and steal...I'm grateful that there's respectful people who is so generous to tell you who did what and such. It's not right to steal people's beloved art and claim it as their own ): That's what happened to me back in high school...I helped a girl out to draw thelead singer of nickleback and later in that day I saw another girl had it and told the teacher she drew it...that damn girl man, never again. It is always goof to keepdepend on such wonderful fans.

Ha - though this post is over six days old, I just complained about lack of crediting about art spam posts at tumblr.com.
Mostly they were doing it so they get attention/most notes. So annoying

I hate art thieves. I'm not good enough for anyone to outwardly steal my art... But I would be infuriated if that ever where to happen.
And I can see why anyone else would be too.
If they are so insecure about their art... Maybe they shouldn't post ANY art... Instead of receiving admiration over false art.

that sucks... if someone appreciates something, the least they could do if they want to share it to the world would be as simple as asking permission, and giving credit... 2 things... is that so hard?... pssshh....

Mate, just look at the bright side. If your work has been stolen, it's because it's good enough, flashy enough and just downright awesome enough to do so! In saying that, screw thieves of ALL kinds!

what fascinates me is how utterly offended some tumblr users get just by having the art they repost uncredited reblogged with credit added.

I completely agree with you mate, and I'm also really happy to see that you're not inciting to violence (verbal, electronic or whatsoever) or 'witch hunts'.
I'm behind you in any part of your 'rant'.

Hope things got sorted out in the end.

What a freaking jerkish thing to do holy crap.

And some of the commenst here ar so downright condescending too, sorry about that man.
Getting your art stolen, then getting people's tudes in response when you're expressing your disapproval.
Stealing and sharing art are different things, sharing means you give proper credit to the artist, which includes providing a link to their site. Why do these people acto like that's a thing you don't know?

well said sir. :iconclapplz:

I have yet to see this happen to me. but my following just isnt large and dedicated enough to know. I think, regardless of fame, we honest and true artist's should all be liability partners and look out for one another on the subject matter.

sorry to hear this has happened. it sucks. and the better one person is at art, the more likely this will happen.

. Your work is awesome and im not sure how much understanding you need to give to a person who out right takes a piece of art and even makes it simi seem like it is theirs. Me personally, i dont even post work on facebook or any other site even telling people about a favorite picture one of you artist have, i directly link the page and say check this guy or gal out. Its just seems strange that a person would do that who wants to even call themselves a fan of yours or anyone elses. bBUT keep pumping out that art man, its awesome.

Hey I was wondering about the "share" option inside deviantart, I don't often use it but now and then I do. I mean the buttons for sharing from the original artist account on DA into other sites like tumblr or twitter or facebook and pinterest. These copy your original link and artist's comment and basicly just make a duplicate of it for another page, but respecting sources and credit. So, what do you think about that? Do you mind?

Besides that, I think the community should try to respect artists more. I wouldn't like you, or any other artist, to take off line your work because of stuff like this. I think that it is pretty cool that we get to have so much creative awesomness for free from so many talented people and all what they ask for it is respect; so I think we should at least give them that.

I mean, I'm not good or popular enought to have encountered thief; but I actually don't mind what anyone does with my artwork, but that doesn't mean that I won't respect someone that does mind. In my ideal what people should do is just keep making awesome stuff for everyone, and everyone should just give something back. I think that the best examples of this in action are youtubers, they make awesome entretainment and now and then ask for donations or make simple products their fans can buy; if this dyinamic moved to artwork I think it would be great. You do a painting, people enjoy it, people give you credit and support. But as I've said, that I think this way doesn't mean I wouldn't respect what someone else thinks.

The share buttons are fine, because they do have a source link that keeps the origins of the said art piece. I don't have issues with that at all. I'm not SOPA in that area. I don't ask anything in return for posting my work up, and you guys were awesome for giving Llamas and stuff which is sweet and I don't really (till now) what to do with it. All I want is have people to be inspired and do what they are here to do. make good art.

Some people just don't have the creativity or the skill to create something themselves, so they try to boost their page views with art work that they couldn't have drawn in a million years. It's sad really. :(

we do what we can, though we can't go all screaming bloody murder bout it. That's not the way it should work. We work our way to be professional in our passion and deal with this the same way. If anyone wants to start a flame war, they should go to youtube or facebook to do so. Not in my gallery or anyone else's. :)

I cant relate due to personal experience of someone stealing my art, however, I can see the problem. Im surprised you tolerate so much as it is, but seeing other people steal art from people I watch is frustrating to me, but I can imagine how much it frustrates the original artist. But in a way, do you also see it as a compliment? Surely the fact someone chose your art to claim as their own means they must appreciate it to such a degree they would like to claim it as their own, but if course, it does not justify it at all. It is still immoral, selfish, and pityful.

In Tumblr, there are few who acknowledge the creator of the work and even make the effort to link to the direct site and stuff but claiming to be their work doesn't justify as a compliment to me. that's stealing.

I see what you mean. I just remembered a few years ago someone reposted one of my oldest youtube videos and actually commented saying he reposted it on the original video. I at first saw it as a compliment, but then when I found the repost, he gave absolutely no credit and replied to comments as if they were his. I reported it immediately and it got removed, but prior to seeing he gave no credit I felt some sort of pride, so I guess that's why I asked that.

Well, if you don't like it, then don't stay on the site, where there are convenient buttons next to each picture made available to share among other sites. And if it weren't for people slapping your work on Tumblr, I would have never discovered you.

Or, upload smaller resolutions of your work to prevent such easy theft. Just sayin'.

sharing the pictures to other sites is fine. I do acknowledge the buttons on my gallery. You are getting the wrong idea that I disapprove these. Sharing is alright, claiming its their work is not. most of my work is kept in small resolutions anyways.

.-. pretty strong response...
I don't have much say since no one's stolen my work a'fore, but most of the people are just trolls.
If not, it's often on accident and lashing out isn't exactly the smartest action...
Like I said though, I've ne'er had my art stolen so I dunno what it's like :I
Though I'd advise to keep a level head; it's more immature to lash out suddenly without some sympathy to the person...
Just my two cents on de matter~

just to be clear, I'm not over-the-top lash out angry and going about accusing and pointing fingers like a six year old. I'm just giving a fair head of warning here and my own thoughts. If I was to lash out, names would be out there and stuff and hate mails would just make things worst and why would I want that? Why would anyone else want that?
