Y'know, I'd celebrate this more, but all I can think is "Well great, how many people did they piss off NOW?" I mean, sure, this is a good thing, a terrible man has been taken down, but his bro's wont like it one bit...
Heheh, I like "It's about time someone put a deer slug in that fucking gopher." Reminds me of the time my girlfriend was hunting and shot a rabbit with a high-caliber rifle, the rabbit pretty much exploded on impact and scarred her for life.
Although with this in mind, his followers are declaring that they'll have more attacks in the future since this thing generally pissed them off. Which makes me especially wonder how things will get once the photos of his body will be leaked online like they did with Saddam.
I think we all DESPERATELY want to believe this is the truth. Is it, though? Buried at sea? Really?
The bottom line is that the media does what it's financial contributors tell it to do and the government presents only what it wants. Does now seem like a great time to announce that Osama is dead? It sure does....now that we are involved in two wars and likely stuck in a near permanent recession.
I don't think its so much as partying than it is feeling retribution for someone that took thousands of lives himself. The people who were not affected by the 9/11 tragedy will see it as a massive celebration- the others will only feel some slight relief knowing their killer is gone.
I'll most likely come off as cynical but whatever;
As far as I'm concerned this doesn't change much of anything. Al-Qaeda will find a new leader and terrorism, whether or not being enacted by al-qaeda or someone else, will likely always exist.
One thing that worries me is that now everyone will reelect Obama because he "found and killed Osama" which isn't the case. The US Navy Seals did that and I think the order to kill Osama would have been given regardless if it was Obama or some else in office. I hope people will reelect him because they believe that he has done something good that has a greater affect on America, which so far I do not believe. Though this is most likely because I only hear the bad that he's doing (my father is somewhat of a conservative and frequently complains about Obama). I myself however am an Independent.
Never-the-less I'm glad that the man behind the tragic events on 9-11 is finally dead. With time I hope that we as humanity will establish a more peaceful way of life.
