Watching Ghost Lab seasons 1 and 2 for the past few nights while recovering from a throat infection, I suddenly recalled my own personal experiences with the alleged "shadow people".
Two most terrifying yet awesome encounter is back when I was a high schooler. There is a saying in asian superstitions that if you play Hide and Seek in the dark, the dead will play with you. (or snatch you away - which is the more gruesome version)
Yep, so I played hide and seek with my friends inside our boys dormitory on the 3rd floor. Shutting down all the lights in the hallways to corridors, we began our epic game of hiding from our seekers where my schoolmate named Azman and I have dodged a few seekers and attempt to avoid them in the study hall. At this point on (unknown to me, )I've lost him in the darkness ahead of me and assuming he hide himself under the study tables. So I followed suit. My eyes have already adjusted to the darkness so I could see well what's ahead of me and right in the corner of the tables, I saw what I thought was Azman crouching in a fetal position and crawl towards him.
To my horror, my hand caught air instead of a solid figure. The next thing was me just crawling out backwards and knocking my head under the tables and fled to my room with the lights on. Yup, I never get caught but something else did!
Second encounter is my trip to the washroom where just as my hand was on the door knob to the washroom, in the right corner of my eye, I caught something black coming towards me in a steady but (fucking fast) pace! Quickly pushed myself into the brightly lit washroom, i kept staring back at the closing door anticipating whatever thing is there to get me. After regaining my courage, i dashed back to my room and tried to get some sleep afterwards.
Fast forward to 2007, after a few months getting use to my new job, I rent a middle room of a decent cozy apartment not far from my office. But unfortunately, the hauntings soon followed. First were the sensations of being watched every corner from my desk. Second, an encounter of possibly two or three shadow figures hovering outside the living room where the dining table is near to an altar. One of the figure I nicknamed it the "hanged figure" or "broken neck man" because that is what I saw.
Supernatural disturbance? Lack of sleep? Hallucination? I'm a believer of these stuff yet I'm also a skeptic. But I ruled out the possibilities, when I learn the source of the hauntings:
Another popular belief that the chanting songs of the Buddhist monks will attract lost spirits that seek to find a small measure of solace and peace in their already tormented afterlife. So when that chanting song was being played on the altar dedicated to the Goddess of Mercy, Kuan Yin, it already attracted some unwanted visitors to the apartment.
So getting rid of the chanting song, and placed a talisman above the front door of the apartment, I have restful nights afterwards.
However, the rest of the apartment block is said to be haunted by the ghosts of suicide victims.
2008 - The "running man" is a brief shadow being that darted past me while i was walking back from work at 11pm at night.
from then on, the encounters are getting lesser but who knows. They might be watching us still in the dark.

She said that she was woken in the middle of the night and she saw a dark figure at the foot of her bed.
My mother is a Nichiren Buddhist, so she told him about the teachings of Nichiren.
Afterwords, she said that his entire aura changed and he became happy and left the world in peace.
she might have been dreaming but you never know! If it did happen then my mom converted a shadow person to buddhism!!!!!!!!! LOLOL XD
(still creeps me out all now thinking about it)
